Having been at Glasgow University for the sum total of an induction, orientation and two lectures so far I don’t have much to say about the University of Glasgow as of yet however there are many things I quite like about my time here so far.
I’ve found the societies I have been in contact with to have been very friendly and welcoming, the campus itself is extremely beautiful (and does look like a Hogwarts of sorts however I don’t really think it’s as necessary as many students here feel it is to keep referring to it as that) and the lecturers I have had so far haven’t put me to sleep yet which is always a good sign.
I’m being very optimistic about my time here as a student, however, there have been some downsides so far. For example, MyGlasgow isn’t the most efficient or user-friendly of online supports to use and almost every student I have spoken to so far has shared the same feeling with me and have found enrolling to have been extremely exhausting. However, having said that the apps which are integrated alongside MyGlasgow are extremely useful in helping me find my classes very easily and the notes to go alongside them so considering we have to only enroll once a year it’s not really that much of a burden to bear on an annual basis.
Overall, so far, the University of Glasgow has been a great experience and I hope this all continues for the 4 to 5 years I hope to spend here but for now I have to go eat find Mustafa, go eat my homemade stir-fry lunch and make sure I am in the Graham Kerr Building for one o’clock followed by another 3 consecutive lectures at the James Watt Building. Wish me luck!!
